How to Match Your Makeup to the Season

As the season changes, so should your makeup. Foundations can wear differently on skin depending on the weather. Some lipstick colors are more trendy during certain seasons.

When it is hot outside, wearing a dewy foundation would increase your chances of having an oily face faster than if you use a matte foundation. One foundation I recommend in the summer is the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. The Double Wear foundations extremely long-wearing and matte. Popular lipstick colors in the summer are usually peach or nude pinks with a gloss. Lipstick such Urban Decay First Sin and Dose of Colors Jazzy lipgloss would be a great combination.

During the winter, dry skin makes it hard to wear a matte foundation. A matte foundation would make your skin look dryer, which is not ideal. Using a dewy or satin foundation such as the L’oreal Infallible 24 Hour foundation would be a better choice to wear during the winter. During fall and winter is the best time to bring out the berry tone lipsticks and darker shades in your lipstick collection. Lipsticks such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow and Lover Liberty are dark mauve color that would be stunning colors to rock in the winter.

Finally, it is important to wear a primer before putting foundation or concealer on your skin. Primer gives your skin a layer of protection form makeup and different primers can help with different issues you may have on your skin such as pores, hyperpigmentation, and dark circles. A good affordable primer is the Maybelline Facestudio Master Prime Primer. Although primer is important, sunscreen should always come first. Sunscreen should be the first step to any makeup routine or step before going outside. Any sunscreen would work under your foundation even if it leaves a white cast, as long you are not doing flash photography.
